You need to be able to recieve mail where the envelope is "<>".
Normally bounced mail's have this sender... I.e. mails from
foreign postmaster's.. One of the reasons to set the sender to "<>"
is to avoid mail loops where a mailserver configuration is faulty..

This is also stated in the RFC's and it's mandotary to be able to
accept mail from <>...

Your users might get unhappy when they don't get mailbounces due
to that your mailserver drops error mails.. Which can happen cases
when the a mailserver accepts all incomming mail is accepted and
delivery to local mailboxes are done i a second process..

If you are really unlucky and disable sender address "<>" you might
be listed at http://www.rfc-ignorant.org where you also can read
more about "DSN <>" ( check left side of web page.. )

If you are listed at rfc-ignorant the world of possible sites
where you can send mail to gets smaller since there are people
that uses this as yet another blacklist..

So even if you get some small advantages by disabling sender "<>" adresses
i'm not sure that this makes things happier for you or your users..

Hope that this help you understand why "<>" senders exist..

I could however agree that spammers should be hunted down with a
harpoon using this sender ("<>")...

Best Regards

/SqM
