What's you problem exactly? I am running for myself a Redhat 7.2 system with SpamAssassin 2.55 and it's working well. There are update perl packages out since very long time. You should keep your system up2date! There are many security issues and I fear you did not even install one update package for your system. For me running up2date alsways worked fine, including the perl update. But you can too get the perl 5.6.1 packages for RH 7.2 from an ftp mirror server, store them in one directory and run rpm -Uvh perl* afterwards. Hope that helps you.
