If you're using the default version of perl that came with Solaris, you
need to fix a few things that Sun broke before you try installing SA.
See http://www.cynistar.net/~apthorpe/code/configuring_cpan.html
specifically the sections on modifying
/usr/perl5/5.00503/sun4-solaris/Config.pm to point at a proper C
compiler (you may need to change the perl version and architecture in
the path to match your version of Solaris.)

Once you've fixed Sun's perl, installed SA and its prerequisites (fairly
easy if you've configured CPAN), the SA documentation should help you
set it up with per-user (typical) preferences. For mailserver-specific
installation instructions, your best bet is a Google search or
http://www.spamassassin.org/. It's probably easiest to set up SA using
procmail and the spamassassin script first, then migrate to using
spamc/spamd for efficiency once you're comfortable with the system.
Finally, if performance and configuration management are a concern, you
may want to look into integrating SA with Sendmail as a milter or as a
component to MimeDefang (see http://www.roaringpenguin.com/mimedefang/ or
http://www.mimedefang.org/)
