Spamd uses about 18MB of ram in version 2.55, end of story. If this is a problem for you, it means that your server has insufficient ram. I'm guessing from the percentage that you have 196MB of ram ? That may or may not be enough for your volume of mail flow, and could indeed be part of your problem depending on other factors. > I have timelog running and body tests are taking anywhere from 0 to 192 > seconds. > It's the 192 seconds that's killing me. What mail server are you using (sendmail, exim, postfix etc) and what method are you using to integrate spamassassin (procmail, mimedefang etc) ?? Approximate number of messages processed per day ? Apart from spamd -m (which IMHO is a bad thing to use) do you have any limits to scanning concurancy configured in your mailserver software ? Have you checked obvious OS things, like is the server being pushed into swap during busy periods ? To find out run 'vmstat 5' for a while during a busy period, look at the memory use, cpu use, disk IO, but in particular the swapping activity (si/so columns) Without answers to most of the above questions nobody can provide you with any meaningful help...
