Please don't thread steal. You replied to an existing thread of conversation and changed the subject line. That is impolite. Now your message right in the middle of Martin Bene's thread about "Learning from forwarded mail". How are they related? Many people won't even read your message because they will not have been interested in the first message it was a response to and will have skipped the entire thread. Please just send a new message to the list so that it starts a new thread of discussion.

You will reply to them creating a form of collateral spam since they never sent the original spam but only your spam. (Viruses are using spoofed From: addresses and this is the same problem for people with virus detectors autoresponding.) People like me that receive those autoresponder emails usually turn right around and send them back to both abuse and postmaster with a complaint stating the above reasons. I think that those autoresponders are enough to put a site on an RBL. So you run the risk of being blocked for being unneighborly. Bob
