*****FLAME ON*****
Yeah, I kinda noticed.
> Look in the recent MIMEDefang archives for the thread "problems with > bayes (?) database access" for one possibility.
Your search terms got me this: "No matches were found for '(problems or problem) and with and bayes and (database or databases) and (access or accessed or accessing or accesses)'"
Those weren't search terms, that was the thread subject. It was going on the same day you posted your original question. There were suggestions in that thread, including one I had posted.
But now that you mention it, when I put that in as a search term it comes up with 11 matches. Maybe you were searching roaringpenguin.com instead of the mailing list archives? (Check the "Search scope" drop-down box). Or maybe the search index hadn't been updated. I was just looking through my own email from the previous week.
A lot of people have been getting nearly the same error with slightly different causes. In my case, it was that MD was limiting the amount of memory available when SA expired the bayes database. Other people have found it to be permissions problems. Still others have had to frequently rebuild the database.

That's the archive for THIS list.
Yes, I know. Since this is an issue that seems to come out of using the two products together, I suggested searching both lists and provided links to both searches. Unfortunately the MD list uses POST so I was not able to provide a direct link.
You may not have noticed this, but I *was* trying to help without being overly redundant.
The first result to come back is my post on THIS VERY THREAD.
That's correct. Because it's sorted in reverse order. Look further down and you'll see other threads, some of which I found quite informative.
Try not to post at all unless you can answer the question, or have one yourself. We'll all be happier without the mailing list nannies.
First you complain that no one responds, now you're complaining that someone did respond - with pointers to possible answers, even a link directly to a set of search results. Maybe I should have linked directly to specific messages, but since the issue seems to have multiple causes - or at least multiple solutions - that seemed a bit much.

Agreed.
