FWIW, I post to newsgroups with ".blacklist" appended to my name in the From
line and my real address in the Reply-To. The stuff that arrives at that
address is 99% spam, the exceptions being largely broken newsreaders (Outlook
Express) that don't honor Reply-To in news.

Spammers, wanting to save work, harvest newsgroups by downloading just
selected headers (a limitation of the NNTP protocol) and The Reply-To line is
not in this list. To get that line, the spammer has to download article
bodies, which for most isn't worth their time.
