Hi,

This is what I'm asking, read on!
____

However, I've now started noticing things that I didn't notice before.
During training, bayes_msgcount increased to somewhere around 4,500 and
then dropped back to zero and began again. This happened many times.

Is this normal???
____

Red Hat 7.2 much updated, Perl 5.6.1, the latter CPAN-installed.

I'm a relatively new dedicated SA aficionado. I "upgraded" 2.50-CVS to
2.60-CVS yesterday. Perhaps I shouldn't have, since all was working
brilliantly. The CVS installed stuff has only ever been installed by the
cvs method, not downloading .tar.gz files.

I also read Theo's "install 'DB_File' or things might not work" posting,
so I did a CPAN install of that at the same time. Perhaps I misread and
shouldn't have done.

After I'd done both, things that were working perfectly well before,
suddenly didn't work any more. I had to throw away bayes_seen and
bayes_toks (mv'ed them somewhere else) and start all over again with new
ones. The old ones were many (11+) MB in size. I take it that my db type
has now changed, as pointed out by Theo. No problem, I have dbm and
gdbm (of unsure heritage, I never use them normally) as well as BDB from
around 1 through 2, 3 and 4.1.25, all operational, on the same machine.
I use BDB 4.1 for Openldap and my MTA.

No hassle. I have around 20,000 ham messages in mbox files but very few
spam to train on. A night and a day's 'sa-learn --spam --mbox mboxname'
worked o.k.

However, I've now started noticing things that I didn't notice before.
During training, bayes_msgcount increased to somewhere around 4,500 and
then dropped back to zero and began again. This happened many times.

Is this normal???

Otherwise, I'm now running spamd with the -D option and "lessing"
maillog for the first time, which is teaching me a lot about what's
happening.

Best,

Tony
