Maybe this will make more sense. 1. ok_locales detects based on character sets.
ok_locales en -- add points to all but English char sets ok_locales en ja -- add points to all but English and Japanese char sets ok_locales all -- never add points based on char set Note that "en" isn't listed in the documentation, but this is what I use and it seems to work. English is permitted by default anyway, but you have to set ok_locales to something or it will default to 'all'. I believe the rules that add score based on the locale are CHARSET_FARAWAY, CHARSET_FARAWAY_BODY, and CHARSET_FARAWAY_HEADERS. 2. ok_languages detects based on actual language used. This is based on scanning the message text. I believe the documentation is WRONG in this case when it says "Mail using character sets used by these languages". ok_languages en -- add points for anything non-English ok_languages en fr -- add points for anything but English or French ok_languages all -- turn off language checking The rule UNDESIRED_LANGUAGE_BODY is used to add points to messages for this one. Its score is 3.97 by default in 2.43. -- Michael Moncur mgm at starlingtech.com http://www.starlingtech.com/ "The only winner in the War of 1812 was Tchaikovsky" --Solomon Short > -----Original Message----- > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of Jess > Anderson > Sent: Saturday, January 11, 2003 7:53 AM > To: SpamAssassin List > Subject: Re: [SAtalk] ok_locales xx > > > Adrian Ho: > > Mike Vanecek: > > >> This statement > > >> Which locales (country codes) are considered OK to receive > >> mail from. > > >> seems to conflict with this statement > > >> If you wish SpamAssassin to block spam in foreign languages, > >> set this to the locale which matches your preference, from > >> the list below: > > I have long been confused by the same thing.
