Probably. You could turn off your MTA for the moment or two it'll take to
upgrade if you're concerned.

Yes, unless you're using a local (to your account) SA installation at an ISP
or something like that.

Also, if you're using SA to *deliver* mail to your mailbox (-P option I
believe), you'll need to reconfigure things to use a different MDA, such as
Procmail.
