Our internal mailserver is a single P3 667, 256 MB Ram, Raid 10 UW SCSI 3 running both POP3 and Internal SMTP, handling between 60 and 90 thousand inbound SMTP transactions per day (85k average). We run spamd/spamc with a global procmail and our 10 minute load average remains stable around 4 or 5. Occasional bursts up ot 8 or 9 are not uncommon (especially with this KleZ worm running around) since we provide backup MX services for a number of customers. About 85-90% of the inbound SMTP is destined for local deliver and so is scanned by SA, the remainder is MX relay traffic which is not handled by SA. So far we have had no problems and have been running it in production for over a month now. -- Corwin J.
