STARTTLS tunneled mail does not take kindly to being transparently
redirected, especially if client certificates are being used.  Not
sure what percentage of your customers would be using TLS mail, but a
false positive redirect would break things.

I setup STARTTLS+SMTP AUTH to allow users to relay though our mail
server from anywhere without having to remember to monkey with their
outgoing mail server preferences, and have to listen for SMTP at
alternate ports to get around certain ISPs who block outgoing mail.
