Yup, that's the key.  I noticed that when my questioning email came
back to me from the list, but didn't take action until you too
asserted that it should have the correct version.

I'm using fetchmail to get my mail and had told it to use procmail as
an MDA.  When I installed spamassassin I removed the MDA line from the
fetchmail config, but that caused fetchmail to deliver via SMTP.  In
the intervening year between when I put the MDA line in and now, I
updated the machine config to always check user dirs for procmail
files and process accordingly.  So, as you've surely guess by know,
spamassassin was being called by procmail through sendmail instead of
via fetchmail.

Things are much happier now.  Thanks for the help.
