(My ISP was unable to help, but he's used SpamAssassin for maybe a day more than I have, and I'm brand new.)
I have not been able, from the documentation, to figure out how to personalize my setup. The problems I'm currently chewing on are: I made the mistake of editing my "auto-whitelist.db" to remove the address of an e-Bay seller. Those 2 notes were OK, but what if the guy decides to send junk advertisements to previous customers? I didn't want that name listed as golden. Since I removed that and several others a week ago, the list has not changed itself. What have I done, and how do I undo it? Then, how do I edit the thing? I can't even look at it safely, since every time I open it, it seems to add another series of "ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿ ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿ"s. Under what name does the file that contains renumbered tests go? My ISP said he just added his changes to his "user_prefs" file and *thinks* it might be working, but my changes to that file did nothing. I stuck similar changes in "spamassassin.cf," thinking that might be looked at. Neither has any effect.
