It's a bit more work to set up a daemon, you don't gain a vast performance boost so I doubt it's worth the bother unless you're running a very busy mailserver. If you get it going with a .forward file then you can play around with spamc later. By the way, sendmail will be upset if the permissions are wrong on your .forward file - it should be readable only by you. Also by the way, I only downloaded SpamAssasin myself two days ago so I'm no expert on it.
