I don't see how it can be very selective. Mebbe it doesn't need to be if you put the "right" stuff back in. You don't need an electrode array. Just put a rubber matt in a stainless steel pot full of salt water and stand on it. Control the current flow by how salty the water is or use a potentiometer...or both.
