This is an old thread. I was asked about what kind of essential oils to
use. I just saw a news segment on the testing of various mosquito
repellants and Off's plant variety of Lemon and Eucalyptus was rated tops.
It performed as well as products containing 10% DEET.
So, this years homemade repellant has lemon and eucalyptus oils in it, as
well as a few drops of a 100% DEET mosquito repellant called Muskol.

A commonly made bug *repellant* uses half cheap mouthwash and half vinegar,
with a couple drops of a couple different kinds of essential oils. It was
successful at repelling jersey shore mosquitoes.
