When the water evaporates from ionic silver, what remains is silver oxide which leaves the stain. The silver oxide particles are in the low nanometer size range and will get into the pores of Formica and just about everything else making the stain seem very hard to remove. Hydrogen peroxide 35% should remove the silver oxide stains.
