If you're talking about AC converting to DC then I use 24vDC, but voltage in 
water at start is from memory 25 volts or a tad higher.  What I'm suggesting 
is, don't rely on a 24vdc source being 24v when electrodes are submerged, the 
voltage may be a tad higher than that.  Check voltage when electrodes are 
submerged at the beginning and see what you get.
