Since theyre not emitting anything they are fine for this purpose. ...

In my limited experience, the pure DC (battery) setup makes
okay silver water, but wastes a lot of the silver
electrodes. One turns black with silver oxide and the other
grows silver crystals that fall to the bottom of the
solution. Reversing the battery connections to the
electrodes every hour or so helps a little.

When the distilled water starts to develops a slight yellow
tint or gets very slightly cloudy, I think it is ready.
This takes a few hours, at most, with DC.

But those problems are what got me to try to invent a better
electrical circuit. I don't know if I have achieved that
yet. I have several beta testers from this group who will
evaluate for me, after a get a few units built.

I started out with 999 pure silver wire from ebay, but there
is no way to know if you are really getting pure silver.
(There are claimed to be 9999 (99.99% pure silver wires
available on ebay)

So I switched to silver bullion tags that have a purity
stamp and serial number from the manufacturer. I hope those
are not counterfeit.

Here is an example of what I used.

You just have to be careful the clips do not touch the
water, when you hang these into the solution.

I think a good way to hang these is to use epoxy glue to
attach the pair of clips to a paint stirrer paddle or
something similar, pointing down, that you can lay across a
jar of water and hand the tags from.
