I run a lot of yahoo groups. I don't think it's all spoofing. The messages
come in with a bunch of other valid emails from the user's address book. So
they do have access to that. Once the yahoo password is changed the emails
stop too.

But you do bring up a valid point. The yahoo groups will send an email when
a reply is sent on a thread. No password is needed. I am not sure what
prevents a lot more spam getting through.
