To do electrolysis with water, it takes at least 1.2 volts.
Silver ions without hydrolysis of water..probably a lot less, but I don't know what it is. But if silver gets cleaned up electrolytically in the presence of aluminum and salt water...it's enough, whatever it is.

..and it does.

"Corrosion" is usually, if not always, an electro-chemical process and that means ions.

OK  Real time experiment:

 Silver wire, salty water, rolled up foil.
 Cell voltage .53 volts

Same deal with white vinegar
.85 volts

Current:  .33 milliamps [  "micro-current" ]

Load up a glove with silver bits and another with aluminum bits, put em on and soak them both in vinegar... A "Godzilla dressing" ...fit for a salad?
..well, maybe wrinkle fingers. [the prune effect ]

  Shucks...look up silver batteries, could be better.
