I am inclined to think of culture not in terms of Past Perfect, but in
terms of Present Continuous. Culture is a way of life. We have the
opportunity to define what one's culture is by choosing how to live
one's life. The way we live our lives depends on our values, our likes
/ dislikes and our aesthetics.
