art is not outside the pale of fashion.
but also more importantly, the questions of function and utility are
issues that artists have to continually grapple with.

Though Duchamp is almost the ubiquitous reference point for conceptual
artists, his Urinal - where he displayed a readymade white urinal as a
piece of sculpture - still remains a powerful work.
