Thank you, Jules, that was so delightful to read. I recently bought a somewhat sanitized book version by Wu Cheng'en. It was very pleasant to snack on, though reviewers didn't seem to have a high opinion of it. My interest in it was re-kindled by the KDrama Hwayugi, which has some elements of the original but - to nobody's surprise - transforms it into a story of star-crossed lovers.
