In "Solaris Internals", ZFS is not covered.
I would think that ZFS would lie in the VFS subsystem, but I seem to recall
reading that this is not the case.
Could someone point me to a doc/diagram that would help clarify this for me?
Thanks,

Any chance you might do a video podcast of this?

I use Veritas NetBackup Enterprise, although I am sure any of the commercial
backup systems could support this. (SyncSort, IBM, etc.)

Speaking of backup-software. I heard that legato supports zfs but is

which one.).

Certain file systems require devices with specific tags. Please correct me
if I am wrong, but I was under the impression that I can use a Zvol for any
filesystem.

Of course. But in the case of syslog you write it to local disk and
send it to your central syslog server.
Speaking of syslog, where is the appropriate community to discuss syslog-ng?

uming a zdev is basically a
physical "chunk" of a LUN or disk.
Please educate me as to what I am missing.

Yes, dump on ZVOL isn't currently supported, so a dump slice is still needed.
Maybe a dumb question, but why would anyone ever want to dump to an
actual filesystem? (Or is my head thinking too Solaris)
Actually I could see why, but I don't think it is a good idea.
