[zfs-discuss] Trying to understand which kernel subsystem ZFS falls under.

2007-07-30 Thread Brian Gupta
In "Solaris Internals", ZFS is not covered. I would think that ZFS would lie in the VFS subsystem, but I seem to recall reading that this is not the case. Could someone point me to a doc/diagram that would help clarify this for me? Thanks, Brian ___ zf

AMASS-FS cache disks need to have the tags changed from the default. (I seem to remember another FS, back in the day, requiring this, bu I can't recall which one.). -Brian On 4/28/07, Darren Dunham <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Certain file systems require devices with specific tags. Please cor

Of course. But in the case of syslog you write it to local disk and send it to your central syslog server. Speaking of syslog, where is the appropriate community to discuss syslog-ng? Thanks, Brian On 4/26/07, Malachi de Ælfweald <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: Just an interesting side note net

(CPU performance has progressed at a much higher rate of change than disk throughputs have). (I don't know what the compression ratios are, but I'd imagine they would be pretty high). Cheers, -brian On 4/25/07, Brian Hechinger <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: On Wed, Apr 25, 2007 at 09

Yes, dump on ZVOL isn't currently supported, so a dump slice is still needed. Maybe a dumb question, but why would anyone ever want to dump to an actual filesystem? (Or is my head thinking too Solaris) Actually I could see why, but I don't think it is a good idea. -brian __
