to answer my own question -- yes, it worked beautifully (zpool import -f tank).
Now to figure out why my network connection doesn't want to work after being
set up the exact same way again :(

I have a similar problem -- my OS is borked-up-beyond-bootable (my bad, and I'm
not used to doing snapshots for rollback yet) and I'm going to need to
reinstall... but before I do that I wanted to double check and make sure that
I would still be able to access my storage zpools (raidz on separ
Ok, all done :)
Check out the details in my blog. Yesterday's post covered some of the stuff I
mentioned in this thread. Today's post covers assembly/construction.
Tomorrow's post will cover "soft" tweaks (installation, configuration,
troubleshooting).

Update:
The BCME drivers & solution from this thread worked, I think:

At least, it says the broadcom is "up" -- I just don't have it in a location
where I can get an IP and outside access to test it, yet.
I had some intermittent video issue
I dropped logicsupply a note asking if they had any specifics on the backplane
used in my case. My guess is that it just isn't compatible with opensolaris --
I have disks in the bays, but they show up empty in the OS. If I connect one
of the drives directly to the mobo it shows up fine.

Thanks for the reply (Will's too - although I see it hasn't posted to the
thread).
"format" gets me a list of just my system drive.
"devfsadm -c disk" just spins for a second, but doesn't change anything found
under format.
"cfgadm" shows the following:

Sorry for the newbie sounding post (well, I *am a zfs newb), but I've googled
for a couple hours now and have yet to find a clear or specific answer...
The zfs documentation indicates that it is very easy to make storage pools,
using commands such as:
zpool create tank raidz c1t0d0 c2t0d0 c3t0d0
Ok, all the bits and pieces I (thought I) needed became available and I have
ordered & assembled my "mini" NAS. Once I get the pictures off my camera (when
will the Eye-Fi support CF!?) I will do up a blog entry on the construction &
update this thread.
My biggest problem so far is that there
I'll have to check out the EagleLake stuff. I did look at the Jetway at one
point in time, but forgot why I initially ruled it out. Might be worth a
re-visit.
I also dug up a notice that Kontron was coming out with one that looks
promising as well, the KT690/mITX:

Is there anyone who has successfully put together a "high-powered" mini-itx ZFS
box that would be willing to post their system specs?
I'm eyeballing the KI690-AM2...
