[yocto] How to override RRECOMMENDS

2019-08-21 Thread Matthias Schoepfer
Hi! In my update to latest warrior, I came across 4b393a21ffcf9fe00577b4a46c38b5db89b39e9d, which adds rng-tools as RRECOMMENDS. So far, so good. But for some reason, rng-tools fails miserably on my platform, why I cannot say, because it blocks the watchdog daemon, so before I can get logged

[yocto] General Question: Device specific value store

2019-06-17 Thread Matthias Schoepfer
Hi! I have a general, maybe dumb question. Is there a smart, recommended way to deal with device specific data (i.e. serial number, credentials for backend access, you name it), that is specific for *one* device, and hence does not belong into the rootfs. I know, that there are (safe) hardwar

Hi Moritz! You need to configure swupdate kind of like the linux kernel with menuconfig: bitbake -c menuconfig swupdate do not forget to copy your config then into an bbappend to swupdate (defconfig). Hope that helps, Regards,    Matthias On 5/27/19 3:26 PM, Moritz Porst wrote: Hello I

Hi! I am trying to write a recipe for a rather tricky component (that has plugins and stuff). Anyhow, I cannot get bitbake not to complain that rdepends on -dev. And if I INSANE_SKIP it, the -dev package will get installed. But I cannot figure out which file is responsible. I tried to ldd al

Hi! Yes, there is, there is a meta-ros. For your convenience: https://discourse.ros.org/t/new-version-of-meta-ros-for-kinetic-distribution/2833 https://github.com/bmwcarit/meta-ros It does work. BTW, afaik there is no yocto 3.9.0, 2.6.1 is last stable if I am not mistaken. Regards,

[yocto] remove unneeded files from update-alternatives packages

[yocto] Determine revision of meta-layer within a recipe

Hi! Is there a standard way of determining the git revision of the *layer* the recipe lives in from within the recipe itself? I know that image-buildinfo class does something like it, but I wonder how this could be used within a recipe. Thanks and Regards,    Matthias pEpkey.asc Description:

[yocto] sumo missing recipe for kernel 4.4

2018-08-16 Thread Matthias Schoepfer
Hi! I might be a little late to the party but ... what is the rational behind removing kernel recipe for kernel 4.4 from sumo (and later). This is *the* kernel with the longest support as of now. When building an embedded system that needs updates for quite some years, I would go with 4.4 right no
