I am not finding anything about the two clipboards over on

Is "clipboard" the wrong keyword to search for?
Also, are there any examples out there in C land on how to read
and write to the two clipboards?

IIRC (it's 20+ years since I looked a this) the ICCCM is the place to look,
not the libX11 docs. (That latter may tell you about generic properties.)
