The solution in our case was to follow your suggestion and set display scaling
to 300%, which works well.
There is one exception though -- the scroll bar does not seem to scale and ends
up extremely thin.
That, however, is just a slight annoyance, not a major problem.

Very large value 300% is surprising. (I use 150% to 175% on my 4K
screen.) Which kind of screen do you use? Just curious.
