Dear Sir,
We are using the Wix project a lot and well in vs2008.We have some wix
project template files which were developed under wix3.0 with Visual
Studio 2008. But after migration into vs2010 with Wix3.5, we meet some
warning during the start up of a new instance of the Guidance Package.
It
Please note that WiX v3.5 is still under development. That means it is not
necessarily perfectly stable. Expect bugs and thank you for filing this one.

Thanks Blair. It seems that option #3 may be the way to go. Can you point
me in the direction of any online resources for "Multiple-Package
Installations"??
thanks in advance,

Three thoughts come to mind:
1. Most of what you are looking for can easily be achieved using Features (a
concept in Windows Installer that WiX supports quite well), although rolling
back would be difficult-to-impossible (all the rest of your requirements
would be relatively easy to meet).
2. If
Hi All,
First of all, apologies for this off-topic post. I am looking for some
suggestions on the architecture of an installer for a related group of
applications, and looking at replacing existing tool set with Wix - hence
posting to Wix list.
I am part of a team that develop applications for a
I have added to Bug database .I have release next week and this is higher
priority.I hope you will address the issue ASAP.

Rob,
Thanks for getting back to me.As per previous discussions, we found about

Got it. It's a bug. The SetProperty element creates simple references now so
that you can fragment them from the actions they come before or after.
Unfortunately, the simple reference for custom actions is created
incorrectly and will never be satisfied.
If you could open a bug on this issue, that
Our history started with VS2003 VDPROJ MSM's consumed by InstallShield 9. This
has evolved several times so that it's now WiX MSM consumed by InstallShield
2009. I'm now exploring WiX MSM consumed by WiX and InstallShield 2009 with
the possibility of WiX wixlibs consumed by WiX in the future.
XmlFile or XmlConfig will do it.

I believe this is an open feature request. Implementing the feature requires
opening the Merge Modules to find matching signatures. The WiX toolset
doesn't persist data like that from build to build so it could a pretty bad
performance hit until a solution for caching ModuleSignatures was developed
Considering A.MSM with ModuleDependency of B.MSM, when I merge A.MSM into
P.MSI
I notice that WiX does not merge B.MSM into the MSI. This results in the
valiation warning ( really an error )

I want to make changes to and XML file at runtime..., which WiX tag will allow
me to make effective changes to a particular node in an XML file... would i
implement this using the XMLFile tag alongside the XPath element..
