While it's true that you don't need to update MSVCRT.DLL, any app built with VS2005 or VS2008 is most likely really linking to MSVCR80.dll or MSVCR90.dll. If this applies to the original poster, these DO need to be installed and they are what are installed by the merge modules. The VS2005 version
