Custom actions can return any UINT value. Check what values your CA returns.

The errors are from the merge module. The merge module has problems which
need to be fixed. You should contact the producer of the merge module to
find out why they aren't compliant with the latest ICEs.

Hi Again,
I am now trying to using the MDAC27ENU.MSM in my wix-3.0 project.
Again, this msm was obtained from the InstallShield (or MS) website.
When I run light, I receive the following warnings and errors:
Microsoft (R) Windows Installer Xml Linker version 3.0.2015.0
Copyright (C) Microsoft C
Is there already an available CA that does this? Not to be able to detect
files in use from the shared environment like Citrix or Terminal Server is
very troublesome since it means the server is using by many people and if
you need to install something, you wouldn't like to reboot the box.

Thanks. Much appreciated!
I added the EnsureTable entries and now light does not produce any errors.

The merge modules do not have the _Validation rows required for validation
to succeed. You'll need to ensure the tables in the merge modules exist in
your MSI file before the merging occurs. Add something like the following
for each table reported below:

Hi,
I recently converted one of my Wix-2.0 projects to Wix-3.0.
The project uses multiple merge modules obtained from InstallShield (as
we use InstallShield X too).
In particular, I am using the OLEAUT32.MSM, COMCAT.MSM and MSVBVM60.MSM
merge modules (plus others, MSXML4, Common Controls etc
App Paths works for Start->Run programs but not for command line programs.
MSI doesn't add anything automatically - what exe would it choose?
If you use App Paths, make sure your program name is unique. ( You wouldn't
believe how often "setup.exe" in App Paths has usurped a bona fide setup.exe

Isn’t this what the entries in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App
Paths\ do? I thought I once saw some WiX documentation on this
registry path, but I can’t find it now; does the WiX toolset have
explicit support for App Paths, is it taken care of automatically
Hello again,
I would like to know what can I do to set up the path for a database
when I create a new ODBCDataSource. My database is a .mdb file. A
Property attached to the parent ODBCDataSource seems not to work the way
I did it.
Wix code will be fully appreciated...Thanks

If you take the sql script and run it in the management studio, are you able to edit the table then? Sometimes it helps to take the msi out of the loop for debugging those sql actions.Dana

Hi Roxana,
just a quick note on the first case - it may be that your custom DLL
is using some other DLL's which are available on the development
machine, but not on the test machine. You could use Dependency Walker to
find out.
Best regards,
