So weewx's secure_ftp is ftps, NOT sftp - two different things. The
weewx-sftp plugin fills the gap nicely - I'm using it with Gandi hosting.
Does it work with 3.8.2? No idea, but it's been out for a while, and as
long as you can load the prerequisites it would work I'd think.

I'm currently using WeatherflowUDP with weewx 5.0.2 and it's working fine.

I went through and completely removed all the weewx leftovers from
/etc/init.d, /etc/systemd etc. and restarted rsyslog. I now have *four*
logs - both of the "correct" weewx-vp2 and weewx-tempest, plus weewxd.log
and weewxd.py.log... weewxd-vp2.log and weexd-tempest.log appear to be the

Odd change - I converted my v4 weewx-multi setup to the new v5 weewx@
service, and all is well, except logging. I have rsyslog set up to put my
weewx-vp2 and weewx-tempest output into individual logs, using the .conf
provided. Both services have --log-label specified and 'ps -ax' output

In case anyone else runs into this - my Ubuntu server/Davis VP2 and serial

Maybe you can clarify something. Do you have a cabled VP2 with the serial
connection, or a wireless VP2 and a serial datalogger in the console?
You can use the aprs extension or weewx to write a report in aprs format,
then use packages like aprsdigi, aprx, direwolf, or xastir to send the data
I can answer this as I went though something similar. Weewx supports FTPS
natively, not SFTP. However, there's a SFTP extension you can load that
will work correctly. If they use FTPS then what you described is correct -
change secure_ftp to true and it'll work. If they use SFTP then you can

The Davis Vantage Pro2 would do what you want, other than using your

I'd suggest you look for a console, either on clearance (etc) from a vendor

expensive, and it'll let you put up a weather display somewhere new.
Searching eBay for "Davis Vantage Pro2 console" found a number of them,

I currently have a VP2 and use the 6316 Envoy and 6510Ser datalogger

I'm thinking of moving to v5. I have a Tempest and VP2 setup and running a

Sounds like a cabled Davis Vantage Pro, although "mid-range cost" is highly
variable. A new cabled Vantage Pro Plus (24-hr fan aspirated radiation

it's powered by the cable there's no batteries to worry about. Haven't seen

The only detachable part of a VP2's rain gauge is the black funnel - the

The Tempest measurements are very close to the VP2 ones. Yes, they do
weather prediction and can do some corrections, but my weewx instance isn't
reading those - it's reading the raw observations over the LAN. I *believe*

I should probably do something similar with the "other way" so it's

I'm using 4.7 installed on Ubuntu server - I downloaded the github version

It does serve a purpose. My Vantage Pro is in my yard and weewx is in my

Two simple Davis options - #6100 Weatherlink Live replaces the USB
