I am afraid that if you have WEB2PY server on your local server, then you
must always be on-line.
Also, nobody else may be able to find your site, if you are just serving it
from your local server. Have you thought about that?
Yes, I did.
They were very keen to help but they quickly sent me back to this group
for some help.
hiya spyker,
Sure, I did that. I am getting to the login stage and getting thru.. but
then it seems the entire system goes amnesiac and wants me to log in again.
hello elffikkl,
I tried your suggestion, but I am not having your success.
The install succeed, but the admin fails. It keeps requesting me to log
in although it does recognize my password as valid!
Any suggestions?
I have another 5 days left on this webfaction account if anything is worth
By the way, the original file gets created the very first time you run the
rocket server.
So you need run the server once for a minute or so to let the file be
created.. and then rename the file if needed to the port you are listening
to.
heya mart,
I think that is an easy one, you need rename a file parameters_nnn,py to
parameters_.py where is the port your app listens to.
Enjoy
Any progress with uwsgi?
I am about to give up on this project and will have to wait for another to
try web2py again. I have a deadline of having to renew a hosting
arrangement and that date is pretty much fixed. It is now nearly two weeks
since I decided to give web2py a shot and unfortunate
No, the problem does not go away.
Not having been able to play with web2py yet, awaiting success of a working
install, I am not sure or confident that the changes I made are being run. I
think so, but I will take some experience with web2py on my turf of choice
before I will get there, I guess.

Interesting. pbreit, as Python is pretty much new for me too. I find this

in software development deployment and very different from anything I have

Anthony,
As I have said before on this forum on this an another topic trying to solve

web2py as application framework and using uwsgi. That is the only problem I
am trying to solve. I have no problem with using Apache inste
Anthony,
I do not find it very re-assuring that I have to get to that level of

evaluation stage only, with no more to proceed w

More and more bizarre...
In the last post I mentioned the difference in behavior between Firefox and
chromium. Well that difference is only occurring when using webfaction. On
a local server, it all works perfectly fine, chromium or not!?
I am getting a bit desperate here. I am a newbie when
I thought the problem was related only to webfaction web2py or uwsgi, but
now, it seems that there is another issue.
I am not getting the same behavior in different browsers!

OK, I did a complete re download and re-install of the system.
Right from the first log in in the admin GUI, using the password given on

"If 'smtp.broadband.rogers.com:25' works under Windows, why the hell
wouldn't it work under Linux?? Oh well."
Maybe because windows runs a 'smtp.broadband.rogers.com:25'
whereas Linux has not set such a server by default?!
Yes, Massimo, as Anthony said, the problem seems to be webfaction/uwsgi
related.
Ah ah,
But then it is very likely everything else odd I am experiencing is related.
What next? Why does the admin home page thinks I am not logged in?
I would dearly love to fix this and start trying using web2py and see what
it really is all about! Being a newbie at web2py I don't quite have t
Yes Johann,
I also believe that there is something happening webfaction side and I think
that they are fiddling something. It has happened before in my short
experience and I am slightly weary.

hiya pbreit,
Here ( http://i.imgur.com/7LZGP.png) is a screenshot in all its glory and
yes, it is a brand new install.
Is this normal?
Ah, ok, I thought this was a different branch and that I had to use a
different repo name or branch to pull it.
But now, uwsgi, doesn't seem to work again. So I am not sure about
introducing another issue prior to fixing the main one.. to have uwsgi
working.
I find it very confusing.
I log in to the admin interface and when it opens up it show a log in screen
on the right side of the page with a warning about the need for https. But
I am already in the admin interface at that time!?
I also notice a doubling of the web2py logo on the left top which
Bad news...
I left my site well alone after the success yesterday.
This morning, unfortunately, it was as if nothing had be done.
I killed uwsgi and re-started after overwriting the copy... All to no
avail...

But where do I download the code for that version?
Ok Roberto,
I am willing to try that. Does this version of uwsgi include the fix for my
problem?
Or can I run two different version of uwsgi at the same time. If so, is it
just a matter of renaming uswgi file to something different?
Ok Roberto,
I managed to build and test. At first view It seems to work. I can modify
files and save them.
So, there is great progress, thanks a lot.
Is there anything else I could do to help you or the community in anyway?
Don't hesitate to ask or suggest.

monotasker,
I experience a similar problem but not on fluxflex, on webfaction, and, in
my case it seems related to uswgi use.
I noticed also that the web2py logo (top left) is duplicated as if I was in
a recursive mode when another logging is required (almost all pages).
Hope this help
Hi Roberto,
Unfortunately, it failed on the make. It is missing libxml2 development
package,
In the error message there is a mention of using libexpat or disabling
XML...
Anything I can do about this?
Michel
OK, will give it a shot and let you know.
What is the mercurial command for the version you committed?

Yes, something like that is the cause.
Fine I can duplicate an re-duplicate here. I can insert any code to
debug/test and am quite p
ver information may help
resolve this but I am not sufficiently well versed with uwsgi to find
a way to start investigating.

I suspect the problem must be with uwsgi.
The reason I say that, is that if I use the apache as per install script, it
works.
If I stop apache and setup uwsgi, everything exactly the same, I have the
problem. I can access the site. login even, but I get in a loop showing me
back to the login

Thanks for the info. It seems to be a permission issue to me too.

I have a clean install of web2py on webfaction and when I log in the
admin area:

Permissions seem to be right: -rw-rw-r--
>From other posts I gather that there is another port number in play in
the webfaction setup... or web2py doesn't derive the port number
correctly when building the filename it is looking for!

After a clean install of web2py using uwsgi as mentioned on this
forum, I get a "admin disabled because unable to access password file"
message.
It seems that the problem is that web2py access a file called
parameters_nnn.py where nnn is a port number to get at the password

I guess I don't think this would be related to the use of uwsgi vs
mod_wsgi.
Regarding using mod_wsgi, unfortunately, mod_wsgi memory use is much
too big for my very limited budget.
OK, I got some more replies from the very prompt people at
webfaction. The problem seems to be with my app (web2py).
"... This is how the server works,

Your app runs on port 10853 locally and is than proxied by nginx to
either port 80 or 443

Yet, I most definitely have a file called parameters_443.py.
Any clue, or pointer?
Thanks

yes, I think along the same line. In my communications with
webfaction, howeveer, I have not been able to get an answer yet,
beyond 443 or the port assigned when creating the app.
I can only presume that no one has used webfaction with uwsgi for a
web2py installation. I think I may have to put th

Hello Vasile,
Do you mean the port for https as a standard wold-wide(?), at
webfaction, web2py, uwsgi?
Whichever, I cannot find it? Can someone give me a clue?
In this instance googling is of no use: a plethora of answers, some

I am trying to use fluxflex but I must be missing something
fundamental as I do not understand what is happening when I follow the

First of all, it all seems to be working fine. I can see the site and
I can log in admin etc...
When I use git to clone the fluxflex install on my machi
