I like the pace of new releases of web2py, but it is a pain to
download each one (the Windows distribution takes an hour on my
connection if I am lucky). Given that each new release has normally
changed only a few files, would it be realistic to provide a small
'upgrade' distribution from the pre

to be applied to each one. The "or ' '" part is needed for rows where
basic.comments is null in the database.

What's the correct procedure here? Should I be entering a bug report
into Launchpad?

I'm getting a gateway timeout again, trying to open web2py.com. This
after several days of no problems at all. Surprisingly, traceroute
shows all nodes responding, all the way through to the web2py.com
host. Does anyone know how to diagnose this kind of problem?

I'm retrieving data that may contain carriage returns, and I want to
display this with these line breaks intact, i.e. I need to put either
a '' or an HTML block element closure/opening in place of each
carriage return. I have tried the following in the view:
{{=row.basic.comments.replace('\n',''
I'm also intermittently getting 'Gateway timeout' when I try to access
web2py.com. I've not looked for information about which node was at
fault, but will do next time! I can access it at the moment, and my
full traceroute (from the UK) is:
Tracing route to web2py.com [140.192.37.194]

Perhaps a summary of the changes could also be placed on the download
page of the web site? Many other applications do this, and it helps
to know before downloading whether it is worth spending the time
downloading.

I think Christopher and Saber have good points here. Any application
should be flexible about where its data is stored. There are many
good potential reasons for wanting to separate the respective
locations of application and data. The symbolic link solution, while

Hi,
The date-time in the VERSION file of the Windows version of web2py
1.62.3 doesn't match the date-time on the web site. This leads to the
admin interface telling you that a new version of web2py is available,
even though you're on the latest version. This problem doesn't exist

I appreciate there are a lot of non-native English speakers at work
here. The possessive case for the plural noun " users " is " users'
", not " users's ", so the wiki link should read " Users' wiki ", and
the similar links " Users' group ", etc. Current usage would also
allow " User wiki ", etc
