great xfree vnc.so module from neoware which should make
it possible to shadow "real x server displays" with the
vnc viewer. i said "should" because i could only get it running
on the linux based neoware thin client computers.

information concering the vnc remote desktop shadowing feature
in your linux based terminals which seems to be implemented
via a xfree module. (/usr/x11r6/lib/modules/vnc.so)
would be nice if you distributed so
I can't make much of this... Could you ask the sysops at your brother's
company where they got it? I have a feeling they developed it
themselves, and it would be nice if they distributed it.
