The problem is the admins want to see what has hung, and because of this
they are switching to PC Anywhere which does not have the problem.
For VNC to be taken seriously by corporate IT this has to be addressed so
it works like PC Anywhere where it is the last service to shutdown.
Tony Caduto
The only thing I can think of is the service needs to ignore the shutdown
message until it is the only running service left then shut down.
I don't program is C or C++ (Delphi rules:-) so I can only guess.

Andrew,
Do the VNC developer know about this problem?
It really is a pain, and we are now switching to PC anywhere just because
of that fact.
I can't imagine that it would be that hard for them to fix.

message popuped up and the server never rebooted.
I am assuming that the VNC server is responding to the WM_CLOSE message
when it actually should not be.
This problem is holding VNC back in the corp enviroment.
Are there any plans to fix this?
Thanks,

Another big problem that needs to be addressed is the fact that VNC when run
as a service shuts down before everything, so if something hangs after VNC
shuts down, you can never restart the server unless you physically go
the machine.

There is a option to do that with the ActiveX control that it uses, I just

VNC Commander is a work in progress, so it will get better with further

Hi David,
You are right it would not introduce any incompatibilities because only the
implementation of the service code would have to be modified.
Do the VNC developers take part in this list?
I program in Pascal and my C++ is very rusty, otherwise I would attempt it
myself :-)
Tony Caduto

No, I don't think spending 200 bucks a crack is the solution.
If I get a chance I will fix it myself, it can't be that hard to ignore the
shutdown message.
VNC should be the last service to shutdown, or at least shutdown before any
running apps.
T

the same.
