it may have been the system I was testing it on (I did not have a huge

I am also trying to get this VNC driver working on NT4. I have SP6a

I noticed that the driver DID install, it is listed in devices as vncdrv ,
and it's startup type is set to "system", but the driver is not running.

As I understand it, your comment IS valid for Win9x, but not Valid for the

You will have to modify the source, to prevent this message from appearing,
as the WinVNC checks the return code of the ServiceInstall function, from
within the code.
I had the same problem, and this was the only way around it. There is also
the same messages and checks for removing the WinVNC
Looks like a nice bit of code. Thanks for sharing it.
Unfortunatly, I cannot conect to my server with it. My server runs on a
non-standard port. I run on port 6709, and I cannot connect.
I have tried putting the IP addres in the format xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:6709 but
it did not work. My Tridia vi
Mu curent Win2k installation also does exactly the same, I just live with
it (I have a win2k on another partition, exact hardware, same service pack,
but does NOT do this).
There is definatly something flakey with installshield under NT/2K. I also
noticed that MSI based setup apps do not suffer
Anyone know if any work has been done on a DOS server? (I know there is a
DOS viewer at: http://pobox.com/~mjy/dosvnc.html). or any hack \enviroment
to get one of the other server platforms to run under DOS?
Thanks.

I don't know if there is a native Win32 RFBProxy, but I have tried this
cyqwin port of the unix rfbproxy (
ftp://ftp.cetp.ipsl.fr/depot/rfb_proxy_Win32.zip ). I have a problem
trying to get it to run. when I start it with the commandline below, it
sits waiting for a client to connect.

I did some single user testing, I used 2 laptops running NT4.0 and a
reverse RJ45 cable, doing a peer-peer setup. I added the Netwotk Monitor
Agent to the NT4.0 network protocol list, and then used Performance Monitor
to monitor the bandwidth usage (I also logged the CPU uasge with each

This is the exact reason why I asked the original question. I am looking
at suporting (upto) 4 remote Win32 machines across a Internet
connection. I want a easy to deply single setup. At the moment, all the
Win32 FTP servers I have looked at (like Microsoft IIS and PWS) require

Anyone looked at putting a small FTP server within the VNC server
executable? Or know of a Win32 open source FTP server that I could bodge
into it?

I see from the AT&T page that each each encoding protocol has a idenfying
number. Is there a way to specify a particular encoding option from the
commandline? If not, can the encoding numbers be used somehow todo this in
a future version.
Thanks.
I connected a NT Workstation to the server machine running NT Embedded with
a reverse RJ45 cable, peer - peer and installed the Network Monitor Agent
in the Networking components. This created a new entry in Performance

Usenet would be excellent. I HATE these mailing lists. i would rather
check out the newsgroup when I need to. it would also help keep down the
"how do I hide the VNC icon" syndrome, as recent threads are easilly
viewable. It would also (I think) open this list up to a much wider
audience. Mod
