We use McAfee 4.5.1 here, it has no problem with VNC, it did about a year
ago with one DAT version but they fixed it within 2-3 days.

Sounds like a variation of the hidden camera at work, which is becoming
popular (not with staff though).
Interestingly tangent, I recently built a web survey for a project, and as
it went live the project leader was with me and we could see the data being
written to the database, she felt that wa

I have the same Nividia setup on with both machines (@1280x1024) with no
problem with TightVNC, I am no expert but I would tend to suspect that the
remote graphics setup is more likely the culprit (assuming poor picture
quality), though you did not say what that is.
I have re-read your post
AutoIt should still be able to help, from what I have seen it is able to
recognise the error messages and act as you instruct.

For some reason I remember Ctrl button did something similar, but it has

This may sound too obvious, but sharing the line with other traffic, such as
Outlook slows it down, I have found it quicker to have mail on the remote
machine and not on the one dialling in, OTOH internet access is still
better locally, I suspect due to the complex graphics. and the caching of

Sounds like you have not got it running as a service.
There should be an option under Start Menu/Programs/VNC/Administration for
Install VNC Service, for Tight all it is is this:
"C:\Program Files\TightVNC\WinVNC.exe" -install
Once it is running as a service you can "send c/a/d" as per normal.
ist in finding the root of the problem.

All I machines use have DHCP for Wins resolution, with DNS Enabled and the
Host Name is the machine name (which CAN NOT be the same as a users log in)
and it works fine (now, Host name = user was the problem I had) just by
entering the machine/host name as the VNC Server:
Hope this helps

Same with the crashes that I was experiencing, except that mine were not
confined to VNC, the suppliers ended up replacing the whole machine, saying
nothing had changed, but as a result of some advice from tis list I had
checked the video drivers, and they are now different. Coincidence?

Someone recently advised a solid blue background for the desktop, I
understand the benefits of solid colour, but why blue?

To unsubscribe, send a message with the line: unsubscribe vnc-list
to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
It is a bit clunky, but send ctrl down, hit the [Ecs] key, send ctrl up
works for me.

Another question: has anybody installed winvnc on nt4/sp5 as a
service
(localsystem, interactive) and tried to connect to a non-admin-user,
and it
works flawlessly? then I'd know to look in my setup.
If there is nobody, it could be a bug. (but I can't believe I'd be

Hello List,
As the subject line says, I get "Local loop-back connections are disabled"
when trying to connect to a remote machine.
I have been through the archives and documentation before resorting to
asking what appears to be a silly question, perhaps I have overlooked
something in the setup.
