Hello,
I've upgraded to TightVNC 1.2 just a few minutes ago, and now the background
on the server machines is disabled while I'm connected. Is there any option
(registry setting) to disable that *feature*?
While it's a nice security and speed-gain feature, it took me *hours* to
find the backgrou

Hello! Try this:
1. Turn off SSH compression (the -C switch). Better/same/worse?
2. Instead of connecting with the vncviewer, telnet into

3. What version of viewer are you using? Might want to try

Hi All,
I am new in programing and I am trying to compile the source code of VNC
win32 version.
I just open the code in Visual C++ 6.0 and then compile it, I got error

I had a similar need.
I developed a script using NMAP on a linux box. It could be made much
prettier, and more efficient I am sure, but... it works.
It scans my network every 5 minutes and publishes a web page with the
DNS names and IP addresses of stations with port 5800 open.
Good luck
Steve
When does coming a new version of AT&T's VNC? The latest version is 3.3.3

Oh yes! I'm a happy man!
Thank you:
* Evan - for introducing me to the -inetd -once options. This got me
the connect behavior I've been looking for. Thanks again man.
* Steve and egb - for clueing me in on -fp option.

Hi,
I'm trying to remotely install WinVNC to Windows NT 4.0 workstations via a
DOS login script. I've managed to generate a silent install response file
(setup.iss) by running the Installshield program with the -r switch, then
using the response file to do the silent install, i.e.:

When did redhat compile in tight? I could never get it

THe machine in question does not have to actually run X just have it
installed so that VNC can get at the files it needs that is with the
-inetd option. The redhat script just lauches a normal VNC session for
specfic user. Have you tried looking in to that yet?

Hi all,
A few months ago, Gary Gurevich posted a patch to this list for making a

I use his patched vncviewer all the time to connect to my Linux box. It
works like a charm with KDE apps and gvim!

I don't quite understand what you're trying to accomplish...please explain
further. Just FYI, I've got my server accepting connections at these
resolutions: 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768 (I can add more if I wanted to).
Basically, I'm running xvnc through inetd. Port 5950 for 640x480, 5951 for

Well, I don't think it has something to do with openssh.
I can have one session open and logoff/logon IN THIS SESSION and the behaviour
changes as soon as
what encoding are you using?? Also, to clarify: does VNC work by itself,
or are you having problems with VNC in conjunction with openssh??
(The standard NT suggestion being, upgrade to service pack 6a and try it
again.)

Hi Tony,
I've come across a problem with VNC Commander which is very weird.
The error message i have been getting is:

This seems to happen randomly, but i think it always happens when I

I think I have tracked down the problem.
The properties box sets the registry values

Hi,
There seems to be a bug in the way the VNC server for Windows handles certain
keystrokes. The VK-to-XK mapping table begins with:

{'4', XK_dead_acute},
{'~', XK_dead_tilde},
{'^', XK_dead_circumflex},
{VK_BACK, XK_BackSpace},

Hello everybody!
I have a problem.
I have installed Cygwin's openssh and vnc on Win NT 4 SP5.
I tested tightvnc 1.1p8, 1.2.0 and TridiaVNC 1.4.
Same problem with both: screen won't update for users.
If I'm logged on on the server as an administrator, both VNC's work fine -
