I'm dialing to the VNC server itself, through a modem connection. There are
2 ethernet adapters on the viewer machine, one for DSL connection and one
for lan connection.

Yes... Open ports 5900 and 5901 as well.

192.168.0.1 is an internal/LAN IP only. Are you dialing up to an ISP, to
another machine in the VNC server's LAN, or the VNC server itself?

Hello,
I'm trying to log into my VNC machine on my home LAN via the web interface and
get the following error after typing in the password:
java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused
As I said above I get as far as the VNC Authentication screen to enter my
password and then get the error...
You need to fix the ping first. After getting basic IP connectivity then I
would bet VNC will just work.

I use Dialup Networking to connect with the remote modem. When connection
established, I use the IP address, 192.168.0.1:0. Anyway, I tried to ping
that host, but no response. I don't see where I've got something wrong.

You need IP connectivity first. Then connectivity on ports 5800 & 5900(if
it's a windows host, otherwise 5800 + session number or 5900 + session
number).
Are you using Dialup Networking to connect with the modem? Can you ping
that server? Are you using the server name or IP address?(you might
VNC works fine by me to connect to any server on the lan (all machines under
Windows 98). But when I try to connect to a remote server through my modem,
I get the following message : failed to connect to server.
Has anyone an idea to help me solve this problem ?
Thanks in advance.
Hi Jordan,
I tried the following solution on NT server. It is ok.
I removed the WinVNC key from registry. You can find it in the following
path.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\windows\CurrentVersion\Run
