Thanks for the reply. Haven't tied that - at the moment we're editing the
code to make it do what we want it seems to be a simple enough change
(hopefully) and will recompile and try it. might try your suggestion anyway
as it seems like a good workaround if it will allow us install twice.
Thank
Vince,
Yes and no. We have a server in development, but it won't be released for
some time. No servers for Symbian or Nokia as yet, I'm afraid.
There are some third-party ports of VNC to other platforms that you should
be able to find via Google, that may work.

I strongly suggest you contact RealVNC and look at the Enterprise version.
It has a lot of features that you would be interested in, including
authentication with MS domain security, encryption, etc.
Email me separately if you have any questions.
Cheers,

I know this was working at some point with an older version of RealVNC.
On my PC I am running:
VNC Viewer for Win32 4.0

On my Unix station (running SunOS v5.8)
I am running the latest version of the server (v4.0) downloaded yesterday.
I have tried both vncserver and
We've been running 3.3.7 to administer several remote servers. We've recently
replaced some of the W2K boxes with 2003 boxes, and a couple of them (not all)
exhibit a strange behavior. We also have an XP Pro box with the same problem.
All boxes have RDP enabled, including the ones that work properl
Hello,
I know how to use the full screen mode but when I use it I don't get a real
full screen as there is a 3 or 4 cm black framework all around the server
image. Is it possible to remove this framework and to enlarge my PC's view ?
Thanks by advance.

It depends on the screen resolution between your pc and the remote pc. If
one is set larger 1024/768 and the other smaller 600/400 then you may see
this problem. Try setting the screen resolutions to the same setting.

UPDATE:
It looks like running vncconfig fixes it when I am running vncserver,
but I still see the problem when I am running x0vncserver
If I try to run vncconfig for that I get the following error:
"vncconfig -display :0"
No VNC extension on display :0
I also noticed that x0vncserver seems to crash
Hi,
Just my 10 cents on TightVNC. I used it before I used RealVNC and it
appeared to have problems rendering some graphics (I used it to remotely
monitor a Fax system) so I switched to RealVNC and have had no problems.
Not having file transfer may be a drawback but not as much as something
which
I setup a VNC server 4.0 on a Windows SBS 20003 opened up ports 47 and
1723 to allow VPN connection which works fine.
This LAN is 192.168.1.1
I can connect just fine onto the LAN but cannot run the viewer to get to
a VNC server when I'm logged in from a LAN with the same 192.168.1.1
Example:
I'm a bit confused,
How can you have two computers with the same IP address on the same LAN? Or, do you
mean that when VNC does NOT work is when you are trying to connect to it, from a
different network, outside the network that VNC is running on?
Please try to clarify a little better where
I believe that he is saying he is set up like the following:
Box1[192.168.1.1] -Router---(*INTERNET*)
RouterBox2[192.168.1.1]

Box3[192.168.2.1]
Box3 to Box1 - O
Thanks Alan for your comments. As stated I've not used anything other than
VNC and it has served me well. As I have outline for the small amount of
file transfers I need I use network neighbourhood either directly from my pc
or from the VNC'd end. Of course what is unique I guess is I work for a

I believe that the issue is with his pc's internal routing table, it knows that its
own ip address is 192.168.1.1 so therefore when he tries to connect to it, it fails.
You can do this go to a cmd window and type
route add 192.168.1.1 255.255.255.0
that should make your machine only reachable
Robert The computers are on to diff. LANs going through two diff routers
but are the same type of internal LANs 192.168.1.1 when it will not work
