You have to configure your NIS as you would for a router or physical firewall.
That is, check how you configure port forwarding or virtual server.

vnc-4.0b4-unixsrc/xc/programs/Xserver/vnc/XserverDesktop.cc contains a
static function 'printRegion' which tries to use pScreen, a class
member variable. Since the function isn't a method of the class,
compilation fails.
The function isn't actually used anywhere, and so can be removed.

You'd better decompose your problem into smaller ones first. That is, remove
the Dlink router and plug your computer (which has VNC server, of course) directly
into your modem, change the necessary setup in the modem and try if this works. If
yes, that means it's the introduction of th

Hi all,
It's been six months since 4.0beta4 was released, and there must have
been many bugs fixed in that time.
Could one of the RealVNC folks please give us an update on how work on
4.0 is going? What bugs need fixing before 4.0beta5 can be released?
What new features need testing?
Let us kno

Hi:
I use VNC between a host computer (running Win XP home
edition) and a client
computer running Win ME. I have a remotely controlled
telescope in an
observatory connected to the host computer. I can
control the telescope
from my house in real-time by watching the screen. I

Neither of which is particularly useful when port probing over a switched
network...

I may not have been clear ... I'm interested in 4.0 VNC source, not
older versions.

Of course: anyone wanting to do this can simply use telnet on
their PC to "probe the ports" of any IP address they want. That's
more or less like walking thru a neighborhood and "testing" to see
if people lock their front doors -- after 100 or so "tests", the
authorities might question
In order to run vncserver on my Solaris machines I have to

Hi Jeff,
The missing exports appear to be those supplied by the rfb library
(librfb.a). You appear to be linking against librfb.a, according to the
output below, so the most likely cause of the errors is that libvnc.a
doesn't appear before librfb.a in the link line. If libX.a requires imports

The linker line does show libvnc.a before librfb.a in the Makefile.
Entering the command by hand doesn't change anything.

Apologies in advance for the shameless promotion here, but it
just so happens to solve your problem. :)
One way to get VNC to work without needing to configure your
router at all is to use Kaboodle. Via the KaboodleProxy capability
(see http:///www.Kaboodle.org/KaboodleProxy.h
Does this diagram help any? (until I can get Kaboodle up and running)

Undoubtedly, James is correct about CotVNC becoming confused. Likely
it is misinterpreting the length of a message and loosing "framing". So,
it
probably attempts to interpret the start of a message in the wrong place
and the message type for ZlibHex (8) happens to be the value it finds.

Aaah. Just read about vncconfig. That fixed the problem.
Nevermind.
