Sure. Grab nmap or any one of the other port scanners. Lots of people use nmap etc for perfectly legitimate network diagnosis purposes. But in making his web-service set up to only scan the address the connection comes from, Scott can at least sleep at night knowing that *his* service is not being used for what might have been illegitiate purposes.
