It's been a bit of a struggle, but I'm almost there now.
After setting the Linksys router to forward ports 5800-5900 to the local
PC's IP address and telling Zone Alarm Pro that VNC was allowed to use
those ports, I was able to:
a) use VNC to connect to the PC the server is running on by using
