Do you have volume in the VoiceOver rotor? If so, have you checked that it is at 100%? Is this when you are needing to enter a number like when calling a business with various options? If so, is the phone at least a foot or foot and a half away from your head so the proximity detector doesn’t

Kay, Based on your comment, it sounds as if you're confused about how audio ducking works on the iPhone. For the most part, I find audio ducking too distracting. Be it on the iPhone or even Jaws on the PC. On my iPhone though, I have audio bucking and a few other VO settings listed in quick settings (two finger quadruple tap). It comes in handy for those times you click on a webpage or video clip
