Hello fellow qmail/vpopmail
friends:
I am trying to get an
install of qmail up and running and I am stumbling at the last
hurdle.
I am installing qmail +
vpopmail +qmail-scanner, and everything seems to be installed ok, but I noticed
that qmail-scanner wants to use /usr/bin/suidperl.

Please see my earlier posting about user-ext names.
And yes, it is normal.

Look into --enable-roaming-users=y option.

No. It is one file with one set of data.
If you read over the djbdns web pages, Dan Bernstien talks about
how cdb can support gigabyte

I was just wondering if freebsd sqwebmail with vpopmail mysql support
compiles cleanly yet?

Hi-
I'm using Qmail 1.03 & vpopmail 4.9.6-1 on OpenBSD 2.8 -stable.
Everything works as expected & I'm a happy camper. Of course, there
is one problem, or I wouldn't be writing...
I have virtualized our primary domain so shell users won't be sending
their passwords all over the net in clearte

Sorry, I really should have been more clear. Here's what I'm looking for:
A user, let's call him Patrick, has to get POP mail at night when he
gets home. He also has to be able to read mail via SSH & Mutt during
the day.
Here's the kicker: it is strictly forbidden for users on this system
to
Does it have to be Mutt or can he use Pine?

vQregister is new web-based signup CGI that
more than replaces the old vQsignup program
we released early last year. If you're running
vQsignup now, or you're considering allowing
users to signup for free accounts, it's worth
taking a look at.
We will be adding a new feature very soon
which will
Quite honestly this is a custom form that most of us code ourselves in php
to insert the info we need from users. What you really need to do is allow
us to pick our own fields...and integrate whatever html we want into it.

Hi List,
I have an interesting little story that all of you might find quite
interesting. It has a happy ending but I'd also like a little feedback from
the rest of you on other possible solutions to this.
Six months ago I built, and pushed into production a mail server, running on
5 FreeBSD 4.1
Complete bullshit pardon the termsplease provide docs on not
running as root. I think this should have been done after first sqwebmail
remote exploit..thx.

Maybe what I said wasn't as clear as it could
have been. Exactly what you requested below,
is the feature we will be adding.
PHP is inefficient BTW. :)

Totally OT, but one user registration per second adds up to 86,400

chown vpopmail sqwebmail
chgrp vchkpw sqwebmail
chmod ug+s sqwebmail
done
Need any more docs?

I wasn't going to humor such a rude request but since Ken responded, I felt
that I should at least point out that sqwebmail must run as root if vpopmail
is configured to use multiple uid/gid.

Not everyone has a single box devoted to Apache with
PHP modules. In fact, many people run a large amount
of time consuming processes. Efficiency is always a
factor, when it can be taken into account. Web
based products should always be concerned with efficiency.

inefficent?
alot of speed and very easy to code.
Take me 10 lines of c code for one line in php.
+ it is built in apache as a module so it runs faster.
Of course c is faster and for any kind of real software it should be used.
But for a websitephp is generally the choice.

Apparently some companies devote more time than
others to their releases.

I'm not sure. Pine was pulled from the OpenBSD ports for security
reasons, & I respect that. OTOH, if Pine can do this I might be
willing to take the risk.
What can Pine do?

Well, what I've done for one of my domains (my personal one) is use
vpopmail's multiple uid/gid so that my mail domain is in my personal home
directory. So, in this example I'm set up like this:
/usr/home/matt/ (that me)
/usr/home/matt/domains/simerson.net (one of my domains)

Hello
Excuse me if I sound silly...I am new to all this.
Shouldn't Qmailadmin login as root and then change to the userid when its
access the home directory of a user.
If this can be manually done..can someone please let me know
