I've had it happen in both Internet Explorer and Firefox. Personally
I've only seen it in Firefox, but users had been complaining about the
issue... and they are only using IE.

I will second mod_jk too...i had to encrypt the data communication between
my apache and tomcat server and using stunnel with mod_jk was so cool and so
easymuch less then configuring "https" on mod_proxy
