I've noticed the drag marker demo does not work whatsoever in IE 6,
however the drag feature one does. Is this due to recieve any attention
soon or should I look into using the drag feature code instead?

I don't use markers at all, so I probably won't be much help getting the
drag marker thing to work.
You can specify external graphics for vector features - for me, this is
the way to go - using a vector layer. In this case, the DragFeature
control works well.
